The Legend of Georgia McBride

12/30/18

2018; End of Year Recap

One of my biggest challenges this year personally, has been consistency. Clearly, that affected the updates here, so here is what you missed! This past year I was given many opportunities both within and outside of my comfort zone. I continued my journey with Gotham Dance Theater, received a Work-Study position at Broadway Dance Center to further my training, I assisted in both Direction and Choreography for two productions, (one of which is still running, details below), I joined the rotating cast of Rebirth of Rabbit's Foot which will be returning next year, joined some productions in developmental stages, presented and performed choreography, and much more. It's been an eye-opening year for me! I've learned a lot about myself as an artist and what I need to work on. I'm looking forward to expanding my horizons even more in 2019, and having more confidence in myself and promoting my work. Here's to 2019!
The Book of Merman, which I Assistant Directed and Assistant Choreographed, has extended it's run at St. Luke's Theatre! Tickets available here: www.telecharge.com/Off-Broadway/The-Book-of-Merman/Overview

The holiday season is in full swing! I've been in rehearsal for two wonderful, yet completely opposite, Christmas themed shows.

  • MuSE's Dance-It-Yourself Nutcracker, where I'll be reprising my role as Clara (how cute is the animated version of me?!)
The second:
  • Plum Stab LLC's 420: The Musical (Christmas Special), where I'll be playing the fairy Happiness.

Tomorrow I start rehearsals as a new Ensemble member of Gotham Dance Theater! The company founds itself on "producing art with social purpose, strengthening the community of emerging artists, and representing the diverse cultures in NYC." I love what they stand for and I'm super happy to be dancing with them this fall season. Stay tuned for show info!

You Can't Take It With You

Excited to say I'll be traveling to Colchester, Vermont next month to play Rheba in the Saint Michael's Playhouse production of You Can't Take It With You! This will be my first time traveling out of state for a professional theatre gig so I'm definitely looking forward to it. If you find yourself in Vermont from August 2-12, make sure to stop by the Playhouse for a hilariously fun show :)

Welcome, and BKJKT

Welcome to my website! Now that we're past that...
I'm currently working on “Making Bookjacket”, a new dance musical created through the 92Y Musical Theatre Development Lab! It’s set in a dystopian society in the future, in which a girl, Bookjacket, finds she doesn’t quite fit the mold. This story centers around her journey to the truth about her world as it’s become. I started working on this project in its second phase of development back in October. Now it’s in its fourth and final phase! I’m super proud to be a part of it. Show info below!
